Attendance

Emerald Campus supports regular student attendance and expects students to follow attendance procedures consistent with their home high school. Even though attendance for the  Emerald Campus is managed through each student’s home high school, students are required to sign in and sign out as directed when arriving late, leaving early, or transitioning between campuses, in alignment with district attendance guidelines.  Location: Mrs. Carol Jacobsen, First Floor, Reception Area

Parents and guardians should still report all absences directly to their student’s home school attendance office following their school's procedures. For details, please visit your home high school’s attendance page.

Written Notification (Ohio Law)

Ohio law requires written notification of all types of absences, including full-day absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals. The complete district attendance policy can be found in the Student Handbook.

Information about pre-arranged extended absences (vacations, medical leave, etc.), including a link to the required form, can be found at the bottom of this page.

Report an Absence

To report an absence, login to Infinite Campus Parent Portal and follow these steps:

  1. Open the menu and select "More" at the bottom.
  2. Select Absence Requests.
  3. Checkmark the student for whom the absence request is being created. 
  4. Select a reason the student will be absent from the Excuse dropdown. 
  5. Select the Absence Type. Options include: Full Day Absence, Arrive Late, or Leave Early. 
  6. Enter a start and end date for the absence in the First Day and Last Day fields. 
  7. Enter Comments about the absence reason. Comments are limited to 50 characters.
  8. Click Submit.

Other Reporting Options

Alternatively, parents can call their home school attendance phone line or email the attendance office. Attendance emails need to include the date, time, and reason for the absence or reason to leave school.

In advance of a planned absence, parents can send a note to school with their student and have them drop it off at the attendance office.

Leaving Emerald Campus Early

If a student needs to leave Emerald Campus during a scheduled class time, they must follow these steps:

  • Notify their teacher as soon as they know they will be absent.

  • Provide a parent or guardian note either in the Infinite Campus app or directly to Emerald Campus or to their home high school in the morning, the day they will be leaving.

    • If given to Emerald Campus, the note will then be forwarded to the student’s home high school, which maintains official attendance records.

  • A pass will be issued by either Emerald Campus or the home high school based on the note.

  • Before leaving Emerald Campus, the student must show the note to the attendance administrative assistant.

Arriving Late to Emerald Campus

Students arriving late to Emerald Campus must sign in at the front desk to receive a class admittance pass. Teachers will only allow students into class if they have this pass.

To ensure accurate attendance records, students are required to provide a signed note from a parent or guardian explaining the late arrival to their home school attendance office. If the note is submitted at Emerald Campus, it will be forwarded to the home school for official recordkeeping.
