Student Scheduling
At Dublin City Schools, we are committed to a scheduling process that supports students in meeting their academic goals while exploring unique learning opportunities. Whether students take courses exclusively at their home high school, at Emerald Campus, or through a blended schedule across locations, all scheduling requests are thoughtfully reviewed and considered.
Regardless of scheduling choices, students should plan for a 15-mod day, which typically includes seven 2-mod selections for core courses, electives, and study halls, along with a 1-mod lunch. Students who choose to participate in Emerald Campus programming should also reserve two of the mods for travel between campuses. These travel mods replace instructional mods within the 15-mod day and do not extend the length of the school day.
High School Scheduling Overview
Below is an overview of the high school scheduling process and how Emerald Campus courses may be incorporated into a student’s schedule.
Step 1: Submit Course Requests
Students submit course requests during the designated scheduling window, planning for a 15-mod day. For students interested in Emerald Campus courses, the request process is the same. Note: Students who choose to participate in Emerald Campus programming should also reserve two of the mods for travel between campuses.
Step 2: Build and Assign Schedules
Based on course requests, home schools and Emerald Campus collaboratively build master schedules that accommodate as many student selections as possible while balancing graduation requirements, teacher availability, room space, and class sizes. The scheduling system then assigns individual student schedules, prioritizing required coursework and minimizing conflicts.
Step 3: Review and Finalize
School counselors and school administrators review schedules to resolve conflicts, address full courses, and ensure prerequisites are met. Adjustments are made as needed before schedules are finalized.
Example Schedules with Emerald Campus and Home High School Courses

Emerald Campus Course at the Start of the Day
Example: Student is taking College Credit Plus CSCC American Sign Language, which meets for one period at the start of the day.
