The Aviation Academy offers students a comprehensive exploration of the aviation industry, covering fundamental concepts and providing a deep dive into the various careers within this field.

Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience and knowledge that will prepare them for several key certifications. By the end of the first year, students will be ready to take the FAA Part 107 remote pilot license exam and earn the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) Level One Safety Certificate, which is essential for obtaining a drone remote pilot license. In the second year, students will work towards acquiring visual line of sight credentials, further enhancing their expertise in aviation and meeting graduation requirements.

This Academy Is For:
The Aviation Academy is ideal for students in grades 10-12 who are passionate about aviation and all things flight-related. It is perfect for those who thrive in experiential learning environments and wish to explore various facets of the aviation industry, from piloting to airport management.

Course Information:
The Aviation Academy is a yearlong program that meets in a two-period block. Classes are held at the OSU Airport, providing students with a real-world aviation environment. Participants in the program also have the opportunity to earn college credit through the Career-Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG) initiative, giving them a head start in post-secondary education.

The program is open to students in grades 10-12 who have a strong interest in aviation and a commitment to hands-on learning. The academy provides a unique opportunity to learn directly within an aviation setting, making it a distinctive choice for students aiming to enter this field.
